Version November 2023
General information
iCogames is dedicated to safeguarding the privacy of all users navigating through our websites and applications. This Cookie Statement, also referred to as the "Global Cookie Statement," is now effective for all countries outside the EU and UK. It aims to offer clarity regarding iCogames' privacy practices and standards. Here, you'll find insights into the data we collect from visitors to our website and how cookies and similar technologies are utilized across icogames.com and its alternative domains (collectively known as the "iCogames Website"). Additionally, we provide insights into cookies, their management, and related settings.
iCogames Inc. ("iCogames," "we," "our," or "us") oversees and manages the processing of your data through the iCogames Website. For detailed information on how iCogames manages your data and your privacy rights, please consult iCogames' Privacy Statement.
Kindly note that iCogames may update this Cookie Statement periodically. Should significant changes occur, we'll notify you accordingly. You can also refer to this Cookie Statement to stay informed about the latest updates.
*Please be aware that we determine your location based on your IP address; therefore, if you're using a VPN connection, the applicable Cookie Statement may not be displayed.
What are cookies?
Cookies. Cookies are small pieces of data that websites can store on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or other electronic devices utilized for internet browsing through a web browser. When you visit a website, these cookies can be placed on your device via your web browser. Common web browsers include Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Safari, Google Chrome, and Opera.
Cookies fall into two categories:
First-party cookies. These are cookies placed by iCogames on your device for our own purposes.
Third-party cookies. Cookies placed by or for external/third-party entities (e.g., other companies). Typically, these cookies are used for advertising and tracking purposes (see below). Conversely, iCogames may also obtain cookie information from third parties when you visit other websites.
Functional cookies. Once a cookie is placed on your device, the website can recognize your device as you navigate through the iCogames Website using the same web browser. This functionality enables the iCogames Website to 'remember' your language preferences, games played, and your progress in those games. If third parties place these cookies, they can also use them for similar purposes.
For further information on cookies, please visit www.allaboutcookies.org.
Cookie Lifespan. After being placed on a device, a cookie is valid for a specific period.
Default period. Once a cookie's validity period expires, the web browser automatically removes it. For local storage, iCogames ensures its removal after the specified time in the Cookie Table.
The validity period varies per cookie. Some cookies are only valid during the browser session, while others can recognize your device even if you revisit the iCogames Website during a new browser session, lasting for example, up to six months after placement.
Early Deletion/Refusal of Cookies. You have the option to manually delete a cookie before its validity period expires. Similarly, you can choose to refuse cookies that require your consent. For further details, please refer to the section below: "How can you manage cookies and cookie settings?".
Similar Technologies. Apart from cookies, other techniques may also serve similar purposes, such as:
HTML5 Local Storage. HTML5 Local Storage and local shared objects function similarly to cookies.
Web Beacons. Web beacons (also known as "tags" or "tracking pixels") consist of programming code embedded in web pages, emails, and ads. They can notify when these web pages, emails, or ads are viewed or clicked by you.
Throughout this document, when we mention "cookies," we're also referring to the similar technologies described above, unless stated otherwise.
What types of cookies do we use?
iCogames utilizes four types of cookies on the iCogames Website: (i) functional cookies, (ii) analytical cookies, (iii) advertising cookies, and (iv) marketing cookies.
(i) Functional cookies.
These are essential for ensuring proper website layout and navigation. They include cookies (1) placed solely to facilitate communication over an electronic communication network or (2) strictly necessary for providing you with the requested information-society service.
(ii) Analytical cookies.
Used to analyze and map website usage, allowing for the enhancement of iCogames' services' quality and/or effectiveness.
(iii) Advertising cookies.
Advertising/targeting cookies analyze user activity and sessions, enabling parties to offer a personalized experience. They are primarily set by third parties with whom iCogames conducts advertising campaigns, facilitating the delivery of relevant advertisements.
(iv) Marketing cookies.
Track the efficacy of our advertising campaigns and/or create user interest groups in our products. These groups may be targeted for re-engagement with iCogames through advertisements on other websites.
Who places which cookies?
(i) iCogames cookies
Certain cookies are directly placed by iCogames or on its behalf. This includes all functional cookies, some analytical cookies, and advertising cookies. You can find a comprehensive overview of cookies placed through your browser via our Cookie Consent Module (where available in your region) or your browser's Developer Tools, accessible with ctrl+shift+i on Windows or cmd+shift+i on Mac.
(ii) Developer cookies
Developers of games on the iCogames Website may also incorporate cookies in their games, for instance, to track in-game points. iCogames is not responsible for this data processing; only the developer determines which cookie data is processed and for what purpose. However, to ensure your data's safety during gameplay, iCogames has taken two measures. Firstly, we've included contractual safeguards in our agreements with developers. Secondly, we've compiled a list of cookies used by our game developers, categorized by game, to inform you on their behalf.* This allows you to decide based on the games you play whether to adjust your cookie settings.
Google Analytics Blockage Please note that we do not employ Google Analytics on any of our websites. However, some game developers we collaborate with may attempt to use Google Analytics for in-game activity tracking. We actively identify and overwrite these implementations for EU users. To opt out of Google Analytics tracking across all websites, please visit: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
*Please note that this list may not be exhaustive, as cookies placed with fewer than 100 website visitors are not included. Additionally, developers may change the cookies they use over time. Therefore, we automatically update this list daily.
(iii) Secondary domains
The iCogames domain (icogames.com) also hosts secondary pages: developers.icogames.com, app.icogames.dev, about.icogames.com, jobs.icogames.com, and shop.icogames.com. iCogames does not place or utilize any cookies on these subdomains, except for shop.icogames.com, where we employ functional cookies. Please refer to "2. What are cookies?" and "3. What types of cookies do we use?" for more information about (functional) cookies. If iCogames uses or places cookies on these secondary pages, we ensure that no cookies requiring consent under applicable law are placed without your consent.
(iv) Externally hosted games and other websites
This Cookie Statement pertains solely to cookies used when visiting the iCogames Website. iCogames bears no responsibility for cookies placed by and for other parties when you visit external webpages, even if directed from the iCogames Website. To facilitate an informed choice, we include a banner when you play a game via our website hosted on a third-party platform. This banner notifies you of your impending access to a third-party website.
Should you desire further information about any cookies used on our website or the organizations we collaborate with in this regard, feel free to reach out to us via privacy@icogames.com.
How can you manage cookies and cookie settings?
